About Us

Anne Markham, J.D., G.P.C.

Anne Markham has been writing grants for more than a decade. She undertook her early grant writing experience while at Johns Hopkins University, first in the School of Public Health and then in the School of Medicine. While there she helped secure several million dollars in funding largely from NASA, the CDC, and the NIH. Since 2006, she has worked in the grants office of a large community college where she has helped secure funding for a wide variety of disciplines including nursing, technology, and engineering. Her most recent work has focused on improving educational opportunities for students and providing essential continuing education initiatives for the community at large. Anne has also written successful grants to support some of her personal interests including bicycling and community orchestra. She received her B.A. cum laude from Harvard University and law degree from Catholic University and has practiced law in three states. She is one of eight specialists in Maryland who holds Grant Professional Certification (GPC) status from the Grant Professionals Association. She has achieved teaching certification and has taught at the secondary school level in Maryland.

Estelle Young, Ph.D.

Estelle Young’s experience encompasses both grant development and grant writing. She has been writing grants for more than seven years in both the non-profit and higher education sectors, including grants from federal, state, and foundation sources. Estelle has served as sole or co-author for $6.5 million of funded proposals. Her specialty areas are college student development and retention, and work to close the achievement gap. Her grant-writing experience is supplemented by proposal development work. Each of the successful grants she submitted was based on college access or retention programs she developed. For six years she was a member of the sociology faculty at Bowie and Morgan State Universities. She received her B.A. in anthropology and her M.A. in public policy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her Ph.D. in sociology from Johns Hopkins University. 

Thomas Markham

Thomas Markham has expertise in creating and editing a variety of communications, websites, and marketing materials for educators in primary, secondary, and higher education markets and for pharmaceutical clients. He has created newsletters, advertisements, and email campaigns to promote events and products, and has provided logistical support for numerous conferences, advisory boards, and tradeshows. Thomas has also worked closely with medical writers and scientists to develop educational outreach materials for health care providers to promote better understanding of disease states. He has collaborated on several requests for proposal to increase the impact of educational initiatives. Thomas received his B.A. in English from Haverford College with a minor in anthropology.
